MY EQUIPMENT

I am thrilled to be affiliated with and endorse Cannonball Saxophones! After watching the company and their horns for several years, I now believe that Cannonball is in line to dominate the saxophone market and take the lead over newer instruments from the old guard manufacturers: Selmer, Yamaha, Yanagasawa and Keilworth. These horns play great!

I have looked for many years for my “perfect” mouthpiece on tenor, but I am not necessarily someone who changes equipment constantly, convinced that something great is just one more mouthpiece away. I find what works for me and I stick with it until something just compels me to change. Aaron Drake’s mouthpieces are that compelling. Upon playing his pieces, I knew a change was imminent. The Drake “Stubbie”  – based on the classic “stubbie” mouthpieces from the 1950′s – is just an amazing mouthpiece. Lots of warmth and depth with a rich and velvety body, but plenty of power for those times you want to dig in and have a bit more bite. The range of colors and flexibility of the mouthpiece are quite astonishing, and there’s lots of room for nuance. If you’re looking for something that’ll put you on the road to YOUR sound, then take a long, hard look at Aaron Drake. You won’t be sorry.

I am fortunate to be a Rico Artist. I use their products exclusively and enjoy the responsiveness and warmth of the Select Jazz series. My current setups: Clarinet: Grand Select Reserve 3; Bass Clarinet: Grand Concert Select Reserve 3; Soprano: Select Jazz Filed 3H; Alto: Select Jazz Filed 3M; Tenor: Select Jazz Filed 3M; Baritone: Select Jazz Filed 3H. I use RICO reed storage systems and neckstraps.
